Mc Bleak enjoys hobnobbing with the upper crust. Yet Mc Bleak is never more alive than when he’s extracting wealth from the wealthy. He plans to take a greedy man’s gain while wondering if his girlfriend sees through his façade. But nothing ever goes as planned, and Mc Bleak has to think on his feet or his life might be extracted from him.

Gary Phillips draws on his experiences ranging from spending summers as a kid reading Nick Carter Killmaster paperbacks and fetching wrenches for his mechanic dad fixing cars in his ex-pat brother’s garage in an arrondissement next door to Paris; teaching incarcerated youth; hoisting a few in the bar Hemingway and Nat King Cole frequented in Cuba; getting his mind blown by Kirby’s and Steranko’s S.H.I.E.L.D. comics; labor organizer, to delivering dog cages in writing his tales of chicanery and malfeasance. He writes hard-bitten prose, radio scripts, comic books and screenplays.
