Couverture du S.S. Simpson: Broken (ePUB)
The wind interrupted Leon; it had formed a pack with the waves. Wood from the ferry’s deck was lifted and hurled in all directions. Garrard was slammed in the head. Blood trickled down his face. He tasted blood; his eyes glazed over. If this were the end, he didn’t want to go down with strangers. He cared too much. He needed too much. Crawling on his hands and knees toward Sara and Leon, he collapsed a few yards away. Within a minute, the outlawed ferry lurched ahead, and water gushed over the bow like a broken fountain. Hurled into the unforgiving waves, the numbing screams were silenced.

A propos de l’auteur

A transplant from Connecticut, S. S. Simpson found herself living in deep, south Texas and returned to school to complete classes for her teaching degree. A chance meeting turned into a commitment when four years later she stood beside her proud Mexican American Ph D and became his wife. Loving to travel, she cherished her first anniversary trip together to Canada where lifetime friendships formed. She also witnessed firsthand the difficulties of her handicapped husband who lost his leg to a drunk driver when he was twenty years old. After the trip, she almost lost her husband to heart disease, cancer, and severe depression. It inspired her to write a book about brokenness and healing.
