Tom Hood (1835–1874) was an English humorist and playwright, known also for his contributions to children”s literature. The son of the famed poet and humorist Thomas Hood, he inherited his father”s literary proclivity, often reflecting a whimsical and entertaining style in his own works. His lyrical skill and affinity for children”s fantasies found expression in his book “Fairy Realm: A Collection of the Favourite Old Tales Told in Verse” (1866), in which he retold classic fairy tales in engaging poetic form. This work epitomizes Hood”s deft blending of literary tradition with the Victorian fascination for fairy tales, as he sought to capture the imaginations of young readers.
