The guide also allows people who have not had depression to understand what someone is thinking while in that very dark place. The guide walks you through being at the very bottom of the hole where you have no hope or feelings and suggests ways which may help you get out the hole. As you begin to recover at your own pace, eventually you make it to the top where you see everything you have missed for such a very long time. This is the point you know that you have self worth and you are still the person you knew was always in there but trapped inside your shell of a body.
