Taisia Kitaiskaia is a Russian-American poet and writer who writes about fairytales, witches, and the old crone of Slavic folklore: Baba Yaga. She is the author of Literary Witches (Hachette/Seal), an NPR Best Book of 2017; a divination deck, The Literary Witches Oracle (Clarkson Potter, 2019); and two books of experimental advice from a witch of Slavic Folklore, Baba Yaga (Ask Baba Yaga: Otherworldly Advice for Everyday Troubles and Ask Baba Yaga: Poetic Remedies for Troubled Times). She has received fellowships from Yaddo and the James A. Michener Center for Writers. Her work has been published in Gulf Coast, Story Quarterly, Fence, Black Warrior Review, Crazyhorse, Pleiades, and Guernica. She has written for The Hairpin, Electric Literature, Jezebel, and Bitch Media, and she has been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize. She currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, the writer Fernando A. Flores.
