Tunnis started as an owner of a Coca-Cola distribution concession and four-delivery routes owner in Buffalo when he was just twenty. Several years later, he opened one of Buffalo’s first roller skating rinks and a bar above it.
This skate land became the business of Goggins family. That was how everyone else saw it. Tunnis Jr., Jackie, and David had to work there every night. They usually got there at 5 p.m. However, the real work began at 10 p.m. when the Skateland doors were typically closed. During that time, the three of them had to do the work of cleaning the place and taking inventory. When it comes to David’s father, David emphasizes that his father never gave any of them any cut from the proceeds of the Skateland or the Vermillion Room. Furthermore, his dad never allowed David’s mother to have her own bank account or credit cards in her name.
