Gennaro Contaldo wuchs an der Amalfiküste in Süditalien auf und begann bereits im Alter von acht Jahren in lokalen Restaurants zu arbeiten. Mit zwanzig ging er nach Großbritannien. Er arbeitete in vielen renommierten Restaurants und wurde als Mentor von Jamie Oliver bekannt. “Passione” ist der Name von Gennaros erstem eigenen Restaurant in London (seit 1998), das 2005 einen Award für das beste italienische Restaurant erhielt.
