Alcohol is the most frequently used drug by teenagers in the United States. Dependence on alcohol over time can cause liver disease, trouble with coordination, blackouts, malnutrition, and shrinking frontal lobes. Changes in the brain caused by severe alcoholism creates long-term dependency and disease. Teen drinking is on the rise and is the cause of nearly 5, 000 deaths per year.
