Phil O”Keefe is an Emeritus Professor of Economic Development and Environmental Management at Northumbria University, UK. He graduated in Geography from Newcastle University and completed his doctorate at the School of Oriental and African Studies, UK. Since his first teaching post in 1973, he has worked at various universities and international institutions, including the University of Khartoum, the Disaster Research Unit at Bradford University, UK, the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University, USA, and the Beijer Institute at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which has since become the Stockholm Environment Institute.
