王度廬是中國著名的武俠言情小說作家，在上個世紀三四十年代曾發表过大量小說、雜文、詩詞等作品。《鶴驚昆侖》、《寶劍金釵》、《劍氣珠光》、《臥虎藏龍》、《鐵騎銀瓶》是王度廬創作的武俠悲情小說，通常被合稱為’鶴-鐵五部’。2000年李安導演根據該系列改編的電影《臥虎藏龍》，曾獲得40多個國際電影獎，並榮獲了第73屆奧斯卡最佳外語片等四項大獎。
《王度廬選集》，收入了王度廬先生的包括’鶴-鐵五部’在內的不同時期的作品，王宏並對其做了一些必要整理和訂正。本书为《王度廬武侠小说》第四卷，包括四部作品:《深宮奇俠》Deep Palace， Legendary Hero；《寶劍明珠》Precious Sword，Bright Pearl；《風雨雙龍劍》Double Dragon Swords；《彩鳳銀蛇傳》Coloral Phenix, Silver Snake。
《深宫奇侠》连载于1930年11月至1931年3月的北京《平報》，屬武俠偵探小說。該書描寫了月下鷹張驥飛為報殺父之仇潛入京城，匿居禁宮深處，後又殺了欺壓宮女的葛太監，故受到通緝。負責抓捕張的俠士壺中客歷經波折，終於找到了張，並得知張亦是俠義之士，遂結為好友。
《宝剑明珠》连载于1931年11月至1932年3月，被認為是王度廬’悲劇俠情小說’中的’傑作’。書中描寫了女俠侯碧英愛上俠客葉展鶤，即專門在暗中行俠仗義，不露真實姓名的’毒劍俠’，並贈珠定情。葉因為已經訂婚而婉拒了她，可是侯仍視葉為知己。在眾豪強惡霸追殺葉時，她雖然武藝並不非常高強，卻知其不可為而憤然為葉捨身相搏，受傷而死。葉的未婚妻也因傷心而自殺。使得葉悲痛欲絕、神經錯亂。
《風雨雙龍劍》发表于1940年，描写的是清朝年间拳師陳伯煜家有兩口斬銅斷鐵的寶劍，一口叫’蒼龍騰雨，一口叫’白龍吟風’。他自己使着蒼龍劍，女兒秀俠使白龍劍。陳外出路遇鏢頭張三，張為奪取寶劍，暗害了陳。秀俠在尋找張三，為報父仇時與張三的養子張雲傑相識相愛。當秀俠知道他是張三之子時，便與之斷交。後幾經周折，二人終成眷屬。張雲傑將蒼龍劍沉入河底，從此不再與江湖人往來。
《彩鳳銀蛇傳》發表於1941，描寫了因庶出而在家裡受歧視，十幾歲時便流落江湖為盜的葉允雄，退出江湖，隱居在某漁村立墊教學，並娶溫柔美麗的梅姑娘為妻。因為該村漁民出海打漁常受水靈山島魯大紳一眾欺負，葉允雄出頭戰敗了魯及其養女鳳娥。不料暴露身份，被捕歸案。鳳娥因愛上了葉，便挺身相救，並與葉同闖江湖，力戰多家惡勢力。後來鳳娥身負重傷而死，葉與梅姑娘於京郊隱居，安度殘年。

He then lived in seclusion in a fishing village and married a gentle and beautiful girl Mei. Because the fishermen were often bullied by the Lu on an Island when they went out to fish, Ye defeated Lu and his daughter Feng’e. Hence, his identity was revealed and he was arrested. Because Feng’e fell in love with Ye, she stepped forward to save him, and went with Ye to fight against many evil forces. Later, Feng’e died of serious injuries.
