The author enjoyed all sports from an early age and has represented the state in junior cricket and archery and, later, baseball. He was awarded flying scholarships to the air force and the navy and went on to enjoy a professional real estate career that included subdivision, building, value assessment, and consultancy. He acted as a professional witness in many court cases; provided advice to local, state, and federal governments; and assisted in the compilation of several acts of parliament. In the latter years, he undertook property assessments in the Kimberley district in the north part of Western Australia and more latterly major building insurance assessments. Recently retired and now having the time, the author decided to put on paper the stories that have been accumulating in his head since he was a teenager.
