Renáta Tomášková, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, where she is also Deputy Head of the Centre for the Research of Professional Language. She teaches stylistics, text linguistics and translation, and her research focuses on the genre analysis of institutional texts, particularly on university websites as an emerging genre and a multimodal document. She has published a number of studies on communication strategies in media and institutional discourses, and edited volumes presenting research results in the field. She is the Associate Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Ostrava Journal of English Philology.Christopher Hopkinson, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He teaches discourse analysis, language interference and translation, and his research concerns communication strategies and pragmatic aspects in a variety of genres in media and institutional discourse. He has published a number of studies in the field, and edited several multi-authored monographs. Gabriela Zapletalová, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. She teaches English syntax, professional discourse and translation, and her research concentrates on genres in academia, particularly spoken genres, their multimodal realization, and the typical genre chains.
