Chase the Dream in Ivy League shaped three representative families who have taken different paths to send their children to famous universities. The children are Vinson who studied abroad in the middle school period, Susan who attended famous American universities from Tsinghua University and Peking University, and Linda who was born in the United States and forced to enter a famous university for family pressure. Vinson”s parents sent their sons to the United States for further study in order to ensure his rich income and a fascinating social status in the future; Susan”s parents spoiled their daughter and did everything to support her to attend a famous school because they want to gain reputation from her; Linda”s mother did not realize her dream of attending a famous university, so she desperately wanted to compensate it by pushing her children. Under the torture of the "famous university", Vinson went astray because of pressure; Susan became a refined egoist and eventually collapsed and killed herself because of failed relationship with her lover and people around her; Linda almost broke with her family. The author focuses on "climbing up the ivy" and extends the context of the novel to all levels of life at home and abroad, including the living conditions of white-collar workers and the struggle of returnees. Under the heavy topic of "how parents should behave and what kind of education to give their children", the author also described the emotional growth of the younger generation. Especially Vinson, who stood up again and returned to the right direction with the help of Linda and became a bright color that inspires the growth of young people.
