Gia, a bright little 4th grader, isnt afraid to dream big! She dreams to become a scientist one day, just like her father. One day, Miss Lizzy, Gias teacher, assigns her class a new science project on taxonomy. Taxonomy is the study of classifying organisms. Gia, excited more than ever, cant wait to begin the project. She finally gets to be like her dad, a real scientist! But when Gia is confronted with a problem for her project, she begins to wonder if shell ever make a great scientist.

Maria Pittos is a middle and secondary school science teacher. She graduated from Saint Xavier University with a bachelors degree in the Biological Sciences in 2015. During her undergraduate career, Maria developed a keen interest in improving student interest in the sciences. Today, Maria resides in Chicago, Illinois. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews who inspire her to write her books.
