Antonio Fasano was a Professor of analytical mechanics at the University of Florence and since retiring has been a Professor Emeritus. Author of about 250 research papers and several books, he is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. He is currently scientific research manager at FIAB Sp A, a company manufacturing medical devices, based near Florence, Italy. Adelia Sequeira is a Professor of applied mathematics and numerical analysis, at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. She specializes in applications to biomedicine, in particular in cardiovascular modeling and simulations. She is co-author of 200 research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings, and editor of several books.
