Dr. Rajwant Singh Chilana is an Associate Professor of Library Administration at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA since February 2003. He holds MSc (Zoology), MLS, and Ph D degrees from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India. Earlier he served as Librarian at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, and University of Delhi, India as well as Library Manager at the Fraser Valley Regional Library, British Columbia (Canada). Dr. Chilana also worked as Chief Librarian at the Guru Nanak Institute of Comparative Study of Religions, New Delhi. In December 2005 he was presented with the Best Librarian award by SATKAL Trust for his outstanding contributions in promoting librarianship in India, Canada and United States. In 2004, Dr. Chilana also received Fellowship by the Society for the Information Science (India) for his significant contribution to librarianship. He has published six books and over thirty five research papers, and twenty book reviews on various aspects for South Asian librarianship. His latest book International Bibliography of Sikh Studies was published by Springer in 2005, and is also available as online searchable database. He has received many scholarships and fellowships from the University of Illinois as well as Indo-Canadian Sastri Institute (Canada) for various research projects relating to India. Dr. Chilana is actively involved in various professional organizations, and has been Member at Large, Executive member and Vice-Chair Elect of the Asian, African and the Middle Eastern Section (AAMES), of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), an organ of the American Library Association.
