We are never just a label, much like a child with ADHD is never just an ADHD child either.
Labels often encourage us to interpret and define our students′ behaviours through the narrow lens of the dominant culture. A culture that encourages conformity and places blame on the individual when they can’t or won’t comply with its expectations. Drawing from lived experience and expertise educational consultant and host of Neurodivergent Narratives Podcast, Sandra Coral, offers educators a resource that will help widen the lens for understanding students with ADHD. Despre autor
Sandra Coral is a queer, Black femme and trans-racial adoptee who grew up in the countryside of Southern Ontario, Canada. She has an masters in Educational Psychology (University of Connecticut) and has taught for over 18 years in schools all over the world. Sandra is the person behind Neurodivergent Narratives, a podcast and Substack newsletter that centres the unique challenges and experiences of neurodivergence for historically excluded groups. Currently, Sandra works a content creator, coach and education consultant. They utilise their training in education, narrative therapy and somatic attachment therapy to support people, schools and workplaces in better understanding neurodivergence and creating neurodiversity-affirming environments.
