It contains two novels, Eastward flows the Yangtze River and Biographic Sketches of Zhao Yuling. The story of the marriage of a soldier”s family during the Anti Japanese war is taken as the main line. It tells the story of a brave young officer Jiang Hong, entrusted by his best friend Sun Zhijian, escorted his sister-in-law Xue Bingru from Nanjing to withdraw from the rear area. It also contains the contents of the Nanjing defense war and the Nanjing Massacre in detail, describing the heroism of Nanjing”s retreat and the tragic scene of the Japanese invaders” massacre, which has the function of "recording history". It is a well-known masterpiece at that time, and the only novel recording the tragic situation of Nanjing Massacre in China in the 20th century. The Biographic Sketches of Zhao Yuling, through the accidental discovery by journalist Liu Boxun and poet Chen Zihe while walking in the Forbidden City Park, tells a series of sad and joyous stories about Zhao Yuling, the eighth grandmother of Fengba, who has been in the Forbidden City Park for a walk.
