Обложка Ambrose Bierce: In the Midst of Life (Barnes & Noble Digital Library) (ePUB)

Published in 1891, this collection of 26 bone-chilling short stories is set during the American Civil War. It is divided, as the title suggests, between tales of soldiers and tales of civilians.  Many have a strong element of horror or the supernatural, such as the justly famous ‘The Incident at Owl Creek Bridge.’

Об авторе

Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914?) was an American short-story writer, journalist, and critic.  He is known for his collection, Write it Right and a volume of ironic definitions, The Devil’s Dictionary.  Disillusioned with American life, he moved to Mexico in 1913, where he vanished without a trace.
