H. Rider Haggard’s ‘Ayesha: The Return of She’ is the follow-up to ‘She: A History of Adventure, ‘ his first book. The narrative of Ayesha, the immortal ruler of the long-lost city of Kôr, who has been waiting for her beloved, the Englishman Leo Vincey, to come back to her for more than two thousand years, is continued in the book. Holly, Leo’s adopted son, and Job arrive in the interior of Africa at the start of the book, where they meet the stunning and enigmatic Ustane. As a result of Holly’s conviction that Ustane is Ayesha’s reincarnation, he embarks on a risky quest to locate the forgotten city of Kôr and reunite Ayesha with Leo. Fans of Haggard’s writing and adventure literature in general should read ‘Ayesha: The Return of She, ‘ which is a good follow-up to ‘She: A History of Adventure’.
