John Bunyan (1628–1688) was an English writer and Baptist preacher best known for his Christian allegory “The Pilgrim”s Progress.” Born in Elstow, Bedfordshire, Bunyan”s early life was marked by several turns of fortune, from serving in the Parliamentary Army during the English Civil War to various times of financial hardship.
