This book takes Jin Shengtan”s life experience, friends and writings as the research focus, the detailed and solid historical research as the quality pursuit, the evaluation of academic history as the longitudinal consideration, the problem research, chronicle research and friends research as the framework, and the basic facts about Jin Shengtan are clarified through the empirical research on related issues. It shows the life track of a group of marginal literati at the end of Ming and early Qing Dynasty with Jin Shengtan as the center, and tries to seek the possibility of deep promotion and horizon expansion for the literature and culture research of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and thus explores the methodological significance of historical research in the literature and culture research of Ming and Qing dynasties.
