The first part explores the continuity between the Qing Dynasty and the traditional Chinese political system, and clarifies the source of the legitimacy of the Qing Dynasty”s rule and the far-reaching influence on its ruling characteristics; the second part reveals the new attempt of the Qing Dynasty”s national governance, that is, the governance of the chieftains under the background of the unified political concept and the pursuit of controlling the local social order by popularizing Baojia; the third part focuses on the policies and practices of the Qing Dynasty related to the national economy and people”s livelihood in terms of mining administration, community warehouses, and maintenance of salt water. In addition, the book also discusses the legal succession of Emperor Yongzheng to the throne, in order to deepen the understanding of Yongzheng”s reform and its relationship with national governance and people”s livelihood policies.
