Even before passing through St. John's, Rogers felt a pang of regret on the train, and he wondered why he was going. A sentimental journey did not appear to be in his plans. But no good answer was given — at least none that a Board of Directors or a Shareholders' Meeting would have found satisfactory. The ancient vicar spoke to him in an odd manner. "We haven't forgotten you any more than you have forgotten us, " he stated. "And the place hasn't forgotten you either, despite the fact that it's been empty for years." Rogers dismissed it. All it was was a bunch of nonsense. "Take your seats!" the conductor yelled after St. John's. Please take your seats! Fairyland awaits aboard the Starlight Express! Please display your tickets!
