I spent what felt like a lifetime waiting for the day that I might make my dream African safari come true. The information found here was gathered through my experiences in planning my two safaris over the past few years. As we all know the best way to learn about planning a trip like a safari is to talk to someone that has been there and done that. I would like for you to consider this book as your conversation with an old friend. Most of us are not like the hunters on the television hunting shows. In essence we are not paid personalities thus we must pay to play. It is a very detailed business of planning and executing a hunt in South Africa. I wanted to un-muddy the waters for those whove shared the same dream for a safari as I have for so many years, but didnt know where to start. With the information I am providing, I will help you to avoid the many pitfalls that plague so many hunters as well as the overlooked details that can turn a trip of a lifetime into a nightmare. I am living proof that a safari is attainable for the everyday working man.

Kerry Thomas has spent most of his life in the outdoors enjoying all of what Mother Nature has to offer. He spent two weeks traveling to South Africa in 2008 on his first safari. Like most safari goers he fell in love with the country. Even before his return, the wheels in his head were already turning, working out a plan to return.
Over the next three years, he worked out the details with professional hunter Paul Stones for a second safari. On his return trip to hunt with Paul, he took along a videographer and gathered hours upon hours of footage as well as thousands of photographs.
Over the course of the next year, he produced a DVD on how to plan a safari for the budget-minded hunter. His target audience was not the superrich or wealthy but hardworking everyday people like himself. Publishing a printed book and e-book versions quickly followed up that project.
Currently he continues working as a professional firefighter in the Central Texas area. Africa still has a hold on him that is stronger than ever. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his family and teaching his sons about wildlife and nature. In his spare time, he continues to film, photograph, and write about his adventures in the wild.
