Christiane Ritter wurde 1898 in Böhmen geboren. Mit 36 Jahren folgte sie ihrem Ehemann Hermann Ritter, einem Abenteurer und Kapitän, nach Spitzbergen, um dort zu überwintern. Christiane Ritter lebte später in Wien und starb 2000 im Alter von 103 Jahren.
