Eleanor Hodgman Porter (1868-1920) was an American novelist.  Highly successful in her day, she is remembered mainly for one novel, Pollyanna (1913). Her books also include children’s literature—Miss Billy and Just David—and adult novels—The Turn of the Tide and Dawn.
