Pollyanna is a children's novel by the American author Eleanor H. Porter, was published in 1913. The title character is Pollyanna Whittier, an 11-year-old orphan who move to live in the town of Beldingsville, Vermont, with her wealthy but strict and cool bachelor Aunt Polly Harrington, who does not want to embrace Pollyanna but feels it is her duty to her late sister Jennifer. Pollyanna's philosophy of life means on what she calls The Glad Game, a cheerful and positive attitude she learned from her father. The game includes of finding something to be glad about in every circumstance, no matter how sad it may be. Pollyanna's excitement and positivity affect everyone who meets her and she disperses joy and love wherever she goes. Miss Poly Harrington also gently softens in her view towards Pollyanna. It is only however, when Pollyanna hurts an accident that quits her with life-changing injuries that Miss Polly Harrington notices how much she truly loves her niece and attempts to make the unhappy girl feel glad again.
