About the author

Elen Calima comes from the Jewish cultural circle of Central Europe. After studying anthropology, sociology and oriental studies, she moved to North Africa, where she witnessed the Arab Spring. For the past decade, however, she has shuttled cyclically between the Middle and Far East, with one base in Thailand and the other in Turkey. She is a fluent speaker of many languages, able to integrate into virtually any country in which she chooses to dwell for a time.
