Elizabeth von Arnim (1866-1941), born Mary Annette Beauchamp, was an Australian-born British novelist. By marriage, she became Gräfin (Countess) von Arnim-Schlagenthin, and her early works appeared under the pseudonym ‘Elizabeth’ to preserve her privacy. Von Arnim enjoyed a significant degree of literary success in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
