Erich Segal, Jahrgang 1937, wurde in Brooklyn geboren und studierte klassische Sprachen und Literatur in Harvard, wo er später als Professor lehrte. Sein berühmter erster Roman ›Love Story‹ erschien 1970 und wurde sehr erfolgreich verfilmt. Neben zahlreichen weiteren Romanen veröffentlichte Segal auch wissenschaftliche Werke und Drehbücher. Er verstarb 2010 in London.
