About the author

Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) was an English-American writer, best known for her children’s books. Despite a troubled start in life, she was able to write to earn money for herself and her family. Her novels, including ‘A Little Princess’ (1905) and ‘The Secret Garden’ (1911), are now beloved classics of children’s literature.
