About the author


Gene Stratton-Porter (1863-1924) was an American author, naturalist, and wildlife photographer.  She is best known for her novel A Girl of the Limberlost (1909) and Freckles (1904).  Other works include The Song of the Cardinal (1903), Her Father’s Daughter (1921), The Magic Garden, published posthumously in 1927.
