The novel tells the story of a man who sleeps for centuries and then wakes up in a future world that has been transformed by science and technology. The man, known as the sleeper, must adapt to this new world and find his place in it. The novel is a commentary on social and political issues of Wells’s time, as well as a warning about the dangers of technology.
