From Baicaoyuan to Sanweishuwu 

From Baicaoyuan to Sanweishuwu is a reminiscent essay composed by Lu Xun in 1926 about the wonderful life of his childhood. Baicaoyuan seemed a source of endless fun for Lu Xun all year round. Sanweishuwu was a famous private school in Shaoxing in the late Qing Dynasty, and it was also the place where Lu Xun studied from the age of 12 to 17. Lu Xun’s studies at the Sanweishuwu helped him grasp lots of knowledge about Chinese studies. When he was not reading, a group of young boys played games in the back garden of Sanweishuwu. Even in a new era, the childish innocence and purity reflected in the book – From Baicaoyuan to Sanweishuwu still arouse strong resonance in readers’ hearts today.
