Joel S. Miller is a distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utah. He received his Ph D from the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a post-doctoral associate at Stanford University. After two decades of research at Industrial Laboratories, he joined the University of Utah in 1993. Professor Miller received the 2000 American Chemical Society Award for Chemistry of Materials for his discovery of organic-based magnets. His current research interests are the magnetic, electrical, and optical properties of molecule-based materials. Marc Drillon has been director of research at CNRS since 1985. He is head of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials at University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg. He is a member of various national committees and has received awards from CNRS, the French Chemical Society and the French Academy of Science. His research interests in magnetic materials include the correlations between structure and properties, focusing more specifically on low dimensional architectures isolated in molecule-based or inorganic magnets. Over the last few years, Marc Drillon has been actively involved in the design and study of new hybrid organic-inorganic magnetic materials.
