Also included is Dryden’s influential essay on the nature of satire entitled ‘A Discourse Concerning the Original and Progress of Satire.’

John Dryden was an English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who was made England's first Poet Laureate in 1668. William Frost was Professor Emeritus of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A. B. Chambers was Professor of English, Santa Barbara.
