Despite the title, the focus of the story is young Cathy, a spirited nine-year-old sent to live with her cavalry post General uncle. With an endearing charm that captivates both soldiers and animals alike, Cathy and Soldier Boy went on adventures together and formed an unbreakable bond. However, life takes an unforeseen twist when the General retires and Cathy has to accompany him to Spain.
