Norman Spinrad, geboren 1940 in New York, arbeitete als freier Schriftsteller und Literaturagent, bevor er in den Sechzigerjahren erstmals mit seinen Science-Fiction-Erzählungen und –Romanen auf sich aufmerksam machte. Er zählt zu den amerikanischen New-Wave-Autoren und trug immer wieder mit Stories zu Michael Moorcocks Magazin New Worlds bei. Daneben publizierte er Romane, die nicht nur ausgezeichnet unterhalten, sondern auch der amerikanischen Gesellschaft und Medienlandschaft den Spiegel vorhalten und zu politischen Debatten über den zivilisatorischen Stand der Dinge anregen. Seit vielen Jahren lebt und arbeitet Spinrad in seiner Wahlheimat Frankreich.
