Michael Georgiadis is an associate professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He has worked as a modeling engineer at Process Systems Enterprise Ltd (PSE), London and as a full-time senior researcher at the Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas, and as a manager of academic business development at PSE Ltd, Thessaloniki, Greece. His research activities include: integration of process design and control in energy and production systems; energy scheduling and energy supply chain optimization, as well as biosystems modeling and optimization. He has authored and co-authored over 70 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, participated in over 130 international conferences, and his work has been cited more than 1100 times (according to SCOPUS) and 1800 times by other researchers (according to Google scholar). He has been on the organizing and chairing committee of many international conferences, including FOCAPO, PRES and ESCAPE. Pei Liu is an associate professor at the Department of Thermal Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. His research interests include: process modeling and optimization of coal-to-chemical processes and polygeneration plants; optimal design of pipeline networks for carbon capture and sequestration; and optimal design of natural gas and renewable distributed energy systems. He has authored and co-authored over 40 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and his work has been cited more than 400 times. Georgios M. Kopanos (aka Giorgos) is a Lecturer in Process Systems Engineering and the Director of the MSc in Process Systems Engineering in the School of Water, Energy and Environment at Cranfield University (United Kingdom). He is also a Committee Member of the IChem E Computer Aided Process Engineering Special Interest Group. His research activities include: optimization in process and energy industries, production modelling and optimization, energy and utility systems, combined heat and power, mathematical programming, decomposition methods, scheduling under uncertainty, management of energy and resources in industrial processes, energy supply chains, project scheduling, operational research and management science. Giorgos has 20+ publications in top international peer-reviewed journals, 25+ publications in peer-reviewed international conference proceedings, and 35+ participations in other conferences.
