Eckhart von Hochheim (1260–1328), commonly known as Meister Eckhart, original name Johannes Eckhart was a German Catholic theologian, philosopher and mystic, born near Gotha in the Landgraviate of Thuringia, now central Germany, in the Holy Roman Empire.
