Nels Hanson’s fiction received the San Francisco Foundation’s James D. Phelan Award and Pushcart Prize nominations in 2010, 2012, and 2014, and has appeared in the Antioch Review, Black Warrior Review, Southeast Review, and other journals. His poems have been published in Word Riot, Oklahoma Review, Pacific Review, and other magazines, and received a 2014 Pushcart nomination, Sharkpack Review’s 2014 Prospero Prize, and 2015 and 2016 Best of the Net nominations. Mandana Talieh moved to Los Angeles when she was young. When she married she began to immerse herself in art and books on spirituality, especially I Am That, which led her to begin making drawings. In What the Lizard Said, Wise Dog and Jimmi represent the two selves we all contain: the one who focuses on experiencing the outer world and the inner one who dives into silence and explores the inner world.
