In 1874, Hudson settled in England, where he became known for his writing on natural history and rural subjects, as well as his distinctive literary style that blended Romanticism with vivid realism. 'Afoot in England’ (1909), showcases Hudson’s passion for the English countryside, weaving anecdotal accounts with social commentary, reflecting his wandering spirit and keen observation skills.
