Richard Salva was born in Cleveland, Ohio. While in his teens, he became interested in yoga philosophy and meditation. He obtained his first job in order to visit a yoga community in Northern California called Ananda. (Ananda follows the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. Ananda was founded by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda.) Two years later, Richard moved to Ananda Village. He has been a member of Ananda ever since, and incorporates thirty-eight years of meditation, and study and practice of the deeper teachings of yoga, into his writings.Richard has written two other books—The Reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln (a critically acclaimed work based on a fascinating statement by Paramhansa Yogananda), and Walking with William of Normandy. At present, Richard lives near Ananda Village in Nevada City, California, where he continues to write books based on Yogananda’s teachings.
