When I write and see the words come alive I am amazed that what results comes from me. As a child I would see my mother write short stories and poems and would be astouned by her creativity. As I got older and began to write my own works, I noticed that I too had a gift similar to my mothers. This would lead me to a lifelong love of writing poetry. Poetry to me is a written visual of how life or something in life encourages me or a reader to think a certain way or do something a certain way. I want to see my poetry reach into somone’s heart and mind which will hopefully spur them to do something positive. I truly believe this way of thinking was a motivating factor in my life. Even though I grew up in a single family home, I tried not to focus on the fact that we were poor because I knew my mother was doing her very best. Her determination instilled in me values that helped me as I grew up and I hold them dear even to this day. I pray that this collection of poetry will reflect what she instilled in me and will also encourage someone else to do even better.
