The story takes place in the middle and later periods of the 1980s. Starting with the life at Yimiao Village, the story takes the complicated emotional entanglements of me (Yi Ziyun), Yang Yifan, Liu Yifei, Mei Ruo, and Leng Yan as the storyline. The story, in which the hero and heroine was born in the era of hunger, grows up in the age of turmoil, and falls in love with each other in the era of opening up, spans from the period of reform and opening up to today. The novel fully demonstrates the desire of each individual in life during the period of sudden social transformation, as well as the trajectory of soul struggle.
