Selbourne Reid, the author of this book was born in the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. He graduated from The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Public Administration (BSc.) . He currently lives in Florida where he is being employed as a public school teacher. He is also a Lay preacher. Prior to immigrating to the USA, Selbourne served for many years in The Jamaica Constabulary Force as a Police Officer and a Detective. While in the JCF he was the writer of the Meditation Corner in the Police Mirror. He wrote and published many articles in this paper. He was very active in voluntary Social Work in Jamaica and was once recognized by the Gleaner as well as the Portmre Kiwanis and the Church for his work, particularly among children.The Mirror was a quarterly news paper published by the Police with assistance from The Jamaica Daily Gleaner. Meditation Corner was a religious column in this paper. After leaving Jamaica he continued his studies and was employed as a Probation Officer in New York as well as a Child Welfare and Children Protective Officer and Family Counselor both in New York and Florida.
