Sherry Turkle es una reconocida psicóloga e investigadora norteamericana, nacida en 1948 en Nueva York. Estudió Sociología y Psicología en la Universidad de Harvard. Actualmente, es profesora en el Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts (MIT), donde fundó la Iniciativa sobre la Tecnología y el Yo. Además, ha escrito siete libros centrados en la interacción del ser humano con la tecnología, como por ejemplo, The Second Self: Computers and the Human Spirit (1984), La vida en la pantalla: la construcción de la identidad en la era de internet (1997) y Alone Together (2011).
