About the author
Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish writer generally credited with being one of the chief inventors and innovators of the historical novel. Scott was one of the first English-language writers to have a truly international career. He was immensely popular during his lifetime, and his books are still widely read today. Scott authored the noted novels Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, and Waverley.
