Alan H. Sommerstein is Professor of Greek at the University of Nottingham. His recent publications include Sophocles: Selected Fragmentary Plays I (2006); Horkos: The Oath in Greek Society (2007); Aeschylus (3 volumes in the Loeb Classical Library, 2008); Talking about Laughter and Other Studies in Greek Comedy (2009).Alan Sommerstein is Professor of Greek at the University of Nottingham, UK. He has edited all the plays of Aristophanes, the plays and fragments of Aeschylus, 13 fragmentary plays of Sophocles (all these with translations, most with commentary) and Menander”s comedy Samia (with commentary, appearing Oct. 2013). He is also editor of Encyclopedia of Greek Comedy (forthcoming, 2014) and author of numerous books including Aeschylean Tragedy (Bloomsbury, 2010) and Talking about Laughter and Other Studies in Greek Comedy (2009).
